So... When I first log in to DA every day, I check out the
Channels page, see what been uploaded in the time since I last log in.. I've got all the categories that I like streaming there...
And as of late, I've been really frustrated as to how many miscasts there are in all the galleys I watch. Now I know, I can spend whole evening reporting them... But
geeze, like I have that time right now! (And... Maybe it's just me, but I feel like a real bully if I see the person is new to DA... Talk about a welcome, getting told you submit it to a wrong category... I now I felt like an ass the first time I got one, and I hadn't been here long)
So... I decided to write a little tutorial on how to check if your item your submitting is in the right category.
Not generally good at writing these, here's hoping I make sense.
This is mainly going to deal with the Artisan Craft or Fashion galleries, but I think this can apply to any category, really.
So... here you are, you going to Submit something you just fished, let us say a hat... A hat you sewed, no less. You know, like one of theses >

(Hat by the lovely `
taeliac, I'm just using it as a example.. .And it is in the right gallery, just couldn't resist using her stuff!) Great, it's done! Now lets get it up for the whole world to see! Now, it going up in
Clothes gallery, cause you sewed the thing, and it's fabric, right? Right?
Well, no, it wouldn't. It would go in to
Accessories.. But how can you tell that?
Right. Well, when you go to submit a Deviation, there's a little handy button on the lower left hand corner, like I've highlighted here

.
It only pops up once you select a final category, but when you do, hit the
Gallery Info button, and a screen like this pops up

.
Once there, if you were submitting a hat to
Clothes, you's see that the
Clothes gallery is reserved for
" General everyday garments including skirts, shirts, pants, dresses, jackets, and underwear, made mostly of a textile medium." Right, now what? Well, you hit the Back button, because you're not in the right gallery.. (however, if you are in the right gallery, you click OK, and then forget about it)
Now, let say you get lucky, and hit
Accessories next, and repeat the above.. Well, you'll see this gallery is reserved for
"Clothing items that are not garments, such as handbags, ties, wigs, socks, wraps, and leg warmers, made of a textile based medium."
Bingo! Now your hat has a home, and you're happy.. (And so is everyone browsing DA)
This tutorial was brought to you from my own stupid mistakes; so don't feel like I'm trying to put ya down... Been there, done that, got the note from the mod.
Just for fun, a few more descriptions on some of the galleries I watch.
